Did this makeup brand actually remember that people with olive undertones might wear foundations too? I had to see for myself, so I picked up the About Face The Performer foundation from Ulta – here’s my full review

About Face The Performer Foundation Product Info
- $22 for 1.08 oz ($20.37/oz)
- 45 shades
- no SPF coverage
- “soft-focus finish that’s wearable for to 12 hours”
About-Face is a makeup line founded by the singer Halsey. The Performer foundation from the line claims to be a skin-first hybrid foundation with over 17 skincare ingredients included in the formula. They also say it’s buildable and wearable for up to 12 hours without looking cakey. The foundation comes in glass bottle with rounded edges, and has a large doe-foot applicator.

The doe foot applicator is a little tough to pull out of the stopper with the first few uses. I would prefer a pump personally but the doe foot isn’t bad. 45 shades in a true gradient is amazing for a smaller makeup brand, and including true olive undertones sold me immediately. It’s hard to find brands that remember dark skinned people can also have olive undertones; we’re not all red or golden. I don’t mind the skincare ingredients being included in the formulation, but I’ll stick to layering skincare underneath and not rely on my makeup to also be my skincare.

The Performer Foundation 9hr Wear Test
This foundation applies easily with the doe foot and blends in nicely with my fingers. D3 Olive is a great shade match for me – I can’t stop talking about the olive undertone! It has buildable coverage without feeling heavy on my skin. I took a quick nap before the 9hrs were up, but the after photo doesn’t look to disheveled thankfully -lol. I lost some foundation from on my nose -thanks allergies – but overall I think my makeup still looked pretty good. A little primer on my t-zone would help this last all day on my combination skin. I think it could be touched up with powder pretty easily too.

So is the About Face foundation good?
YES! This is absolutely a good foundation. It’s available at decent price point (on par with some drugstore products tbh), and 45 evenly spaced shades is an amazing range. Have I mentioned some shades have olive undertones? They do! It’s easy to blend and held up pretty well on combination skin. I see why there are such rave reviews online
☆ On a scale of 1-5 (1=bad, 2=meh, 3=fine, 4=good, 5=great), I’d give this 5 stars ☆ – if you’re looking for a foundation that’s less than $25 and comes in a WIDE shade range, I’d definitely recommend trying this one
