Too Faced added a tinted moisturizer to their Born This Way line, and I really wanted to try it for myself! Keep reading for my full review of this skin tint. (FYI This has been on sale basically everywhere for over 50% off, so I think it’s being discontinued after only about a year on the market)

tl;dr
- $42 for a full size (on sale for $15!), 18 shades, SPF 30
- I’ve tried shades Maple and Chai; Maple is more neutral than Chai
- very lightweight, looked good right after application
- held up pretty well after 10 hours, still pretty shiny though
- β 4/5 stars – would repurchase (with a sale) and would recommend
Too Faced Born This Way Skin Tint Product Info
$42for 2oz ($21/oz) – on sale basically everywhere for $15, maybe being discontinued?- 18 shades
- SPF 30
- “medium-buildable for natural looking coverage”
Too Faced’s Born This Way collection already included foundations, concealers, and setting powders, so it was only a matter of time before they added a lightweight skin tint to the line. They say it has “all-day wear and all-day hydration”, and that it stays “color-true” throughout the day.

For this review, I picked up a sample of shade Maple from Ulta – at that time, it was still full price and I wasn’t interested in dropping $40+ on a product I may not like. It has since gone on sale for $15, so I bought shade Chai from Ulta at Target.
Maple matched me pretty well in the winter, but would’ve pulled a little light in the summer. Chai should work nicely in the summer with a bit of blue mixing pigment added (it pulls too orange on my skin). I used my sample of Maple for the wear test video, but will only use my bottle of Chai going forward.

Born This Way Skin Tint 10hr Wear Test
This skin tint has a very watery texture that’s easy to blend with just my fingers. It looks great right after application, but clung to my dry patches and separated a bit on my forehead after a few hours. The skincare ingredients in the formula lend to more hydrating/dewy look, so maybe layering with a matte/grip primer would help it last longer on my combination skin.
At this point, I don’t expect long wear times from skin tints or tinted moisturizers that aren’t matte. IMO they usually look ok for only 5-6 hours without needing a touch up. I’ll reach for them on shorter days, or on days I don’t mind taking time to blot or adding powder. If I’m looking for longer wear time and less fussing with my face, I’m gonna reach for a foundation.

So is the Born This Way Skin Tint good?
Yeah I’d say it’s good. $42 is a bit steep for foundation IMO, but you’re getting double the size of a normal one so when you think of it like that, it’s more like $21. The sale price of $15 is amazing for a product like this, but I’m curious why the price dropped so low so soon after it launched. (Maybe its being discontinued already??) Then again, if you need to apply two layers to get the coverage you want, does the extra savings get cancelled out?
Regardless, it’s a nice product that blends easily and comes in an OK shade range (18 shades could definitely be expanded, but I understand skin tints are usually more sheer and forgiving than foundations). The added skincare ingredients are cool, but I don’t rely on makeup products for skincare results.
β On a scale of 1-5 (1=bad, 2=meh, 3=fine, 4=good, 5=great), Iβd give this 4 stars β – if you want a $30+ skin tint that’s very lightweight and you don’t mind blotting throughout the day, I think it’s a nice one
